What is Herbal Medicine?
Herbal Medicine is the use of plant-based substances used either internally or externally to enhance, maintain, and restore optimum health and wellness.
Is Herbal Medicine Safe?
Herbal Medicine is generally very safe. Toxicity and side effects are rare, usually limited to self-administration rather than practitioner-prescribed medications. Patient safety is paramount; it is my responsibility to stay current on research and literature regarding herbal medicine safety. I will not expose patients to plant doses known to have a toxic effect.
Does Herbal Medicine have side effects?
Herbal Medicine is generally safe with limited side effects, although some interactions can occur with specific drugs. It is paramount that your practitioner is informed of all the medications you are taking, prescribed by your GP, over the counter and supplements. Other side effects which may occur include digestive upsets, headaches and skin rashes. If you have any concerns, please discuss this with your practitioner.
